Harley-Davidson Softail Steer Hide Custom Seat Backrest and Saddlebags
⚠️ Note on Photos: The large "BAD&G" logo seen across the bag in some photos is a digital watermark to protect our images. It is NOT stamped into the leather. Your bag will come with a clean, unbranded finish (or small makers mark only).
Project Type:
FULL CUSTOM TOURING SUITE
The Concept:
Why stop at saddlebags? This custom build was designed for a rider who wanted a completely unified look for their Harley-Davidson Softail. We didn't just build the bags; we created a seamless cockpit by matching the seat, rider backrest, and integrated backrest bag.
The Material:
"London Tan" Heavy-Duty Steerhide. This is a premium, oil-tanned American leather with a vibrant, rich tone that pops against black paint. It features a smooth grain that will patina into a deeper amber over time.
The Seat & Backrest Upgrade:
This isn't just a color change—it's a comfort upgrade. Most factory seats are covered in vinyl, which traps heat and doesn't breathe. We strip your stock seat down to the foam and recover it in our premium Steerhide.
- Cooler Rides: Unlike vinyl, real leather breathes. It stays cooler in the sun and doesn't induce "swamp butt" on long summer rides.
- Custom Break-In: Just like a good pair of boots, the leather cover breaks in to the shape of your body over time, providing a custom fit that vinyl simply can't match.
- The "Secret" Backrest Bag: We utilized the dead space on the back of the driver's backrest to build a flush-mounted storage pouch. It’s the perfect spot for your phone, wallet, or toll pass—accessible without getting off the bike, but completely integrated into the design.
The Build Components:
- US01 Saddlebags: Our flagship 30L heavy-duty bags, reinforced with PVC panels to hold their shape forever.
- Custom Upholstery Service: You send us your seat pan and backrest; we send them back transformed.
- Matching Hardware: All buckles and rivets are matched across the bags and seat for a cohesive look.
Fitment:
This specific suite was built for a Harley-Davidson Softail, but we can perform this "Full Match" re-upholstery service for almost any seat pan (Dyna, Touring, Sportster, etc.).

ORDERING & SHIPPING
How long does it take to get my order?
Since every item is handmade in our Richmond, VA shop, we don't just pull boxes off a shelf. Most orders ship within 1-3 business days. Custom orders or elaborate tooling may take longer. You will receive a tracking number the moment your label is created.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! We ship worldwide. We have sent bags to riders in Europe, Australia, Asia, and beyond. Please note that international customers are responsible for any customs duties or import taxes.
FITMENT & INSTALLATION
Will these bags fit my specific bike?
We make both model-specific and universal bags.
- If you see your bike listed in our menu (e.g., "Dyna Saddlebags"), those are designed to fit your specific fender struts and shocks.
- If you have a custom chopper or a bike we don't list, check out our Universal Collection or Contact Us with a photo of your bike.
Do I need to relocate my turn signals?
For most Dyna and Sportster models, our bags are designed to work without relocating turn signals, as long as you are running the stock setup. However, if you have a side-mount license plate or aftermarket indicators, please check the measurements on the product page.
WARRANTY & CARE
What is your warranty?
We offer a Lifetime Warranty on craftsmanship. If a stitch pops or hardware fails due to a defect, we will fix it. We build these to last a lifetime. (See our Warranty Page for full details).
How do I care for the leather?
We use premium vegetable-tanned leather. Like a good pair of boots, it needs to be conditioned occasionally. We recommend using a high-quality leather balm or oil once every few months, or after getting caught in heavy rain.
